According to The White Book on Vietnamese E-Business 2021 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the number of consumers shopping online is estimated to have increased by 4.5 million from 2019 to 2020, reaching about 49.3 million online shoppers.
Online shopping has been thought to be for only white-collar workers who are busy with work in urban areas, but now it is also preferred by consumers in rural areas. Why? This writing will analyze the reasons for that preference.
Firstly, during the pandemic season, buying goods online and receiving goods at home is a safe solution that greatly reduces the risk of disease transmission because people do not have to be in contact with many others, which also helps reduce the risk of spreading the disease to the whole society.
Secondly, in the situation of social distancing and a blockade order, just sitting at home and still being able to provide enough necessities for the whole family is a very fortunate thing, all thanks to the technology in modern times.
Third, shopping on mobile apps brings many conveniences. With just a few simple steps, users can immediately have the food, household items and goods they need, delivered to their home in no time, sometimes very quickly if the radius is nearby. Users also do not have to spend time and effort to send cars, then go around for hours in markets, supermarkets, ... to find the items they need to purchase.
Finally, publicly listed prices, transparent product information and other seller's support (such as payment, exchange, promotion, etc.) also make many people believe in choosing the great modern shopping method.
Perhaps after the Covid19 pandemic, consumers' shopping habits will have a big change along with the strong growth of e-commerce in Vietnam. _____ TAN
